While you're drowning in your tears over unanswered texts from your crush, spare a thought for Angrez Singh, the ultimate boyfriend (or the ultimate case study in questionable life choices)

This modern-day Romeo from Punjab, India, didn't just send flowers; he went all-out to cross-dress as his girlfriend and sit for an exam on her behalf. Yes, you read that right!

Faced with his beloved Paramjeet Kaur's exam jitters, Angrez decided to "help her out" in a unique way.

Swapping his beard for mascara and rocking a salwar kameez better than most girls, he plastered his photo onto Paramjeet's student ID to sit for a recruitment examination for female multipurpose health workers on 7 January, reported The Indian Express.

The 26-year-old's attempt to sit for the exam in place of his 34-year-old girlfriend was thwarted after officials found that Angrez's biometric details did not match those of the Paramjeet's

Angrez's "Mission: Improbable" ended with sirens instead of applause.

He was arrested after the university lodged a formal complaint with the police. His girlfriend will also be included as a co-accused in the case, as without her permission, he could not have sat for the exam.

"He had even got a fake Aadhaar card, voter card, and [an identity] card made in the name of Paramjeet Kaur," Faridkot Senior SP Harjeet Singh was quoted as saying by the Indian newspaper on 15 January.

While Angrez has since been granted bail, the police said that an investigation on the issue of fake identity cards will be conducted after receiving more details from the university.

Angrez may not have aced the exam, but he sure did show the lengths he was willing to go to for love, even if it meant potential jail time

A man can take such a risk only for his girlfriend.
