20 Companies Offering Scholarships That SPM 2023 Students Can Apply For

An X user, @reviewbyyasmin, has created a thread featuring scholarship programmes offered by various institutions in Malaysia:
The tweet was shared on 29 May and has since garnered over 460,000 views on X.
We've compiled a list of companies in Malaysia offering scholarship programmes for SPM 2023 students:
1. PETRONAS

PETRONAS is calling on all SPM 2023 high achievers to apply for its PETRONAS Education Sponsorship 2024 under the PETRONAS Powering Knowledge initiative.
Eligibility requirements:
- A SPM 2023 student
- Malaysian citizens between 16 and 19 years old in 2024
- Strong leadership skills and active participation (demonstrable) in extra-curricular activities

2. Telekom Malaysia Berhad

Under the Yayasan TM Future Leaders Scholarship, Telekom Malaysia is looking to sponsor students interested in the following field of studies:
- Technology & digital
- Computer science
- Creative multimedia
- Engineering
- Management
Eligibility requirements (Overseas programme)
- A Malaysian citizen in good health
- Obtained a minimum of 8A+'s for SPM
- Not older than 21 years old by December 2024
- Active in co-curricular activities

- Obtained a minimum of 6A's for SPM 2023 or CGPA of 3.3 or equivalent for latest results

3. Yayasan Khazanah

Yayasan Khazanah is offering three scholarships for SPM 2023 candidates:
- Khazanah Watan Scholarship (Foundation studies)
- Wakalah PayNet-Yayasan Khazanah Scholarship Programme (Foundation studies)
- Khazanah Global Scholarship Programme (A-Levels studies)

4. CIMB Malaysia

Applicants from a wide variety of academic disciplines are encouraged to apply for the CIMB ASEAN Scholarship. Previously, the bank has sponsored students studying computer science, data science, and psychology, in addition to those pursuing degrees traditionally associated with a career in banking such as accounting, economics, and finance.
Eligibility requirements:
- A citizen of either Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, or Philippines
- Aspires to pursue a career in the financial and banking industry
- Open to applicants who are about to start their undergraduate degree or Master's programme or those who have already started and have a minimum of one full academic year remaining
- Minimum CGPA of 3.25/4.0 score or equivalent with excellent academic track record and active in curricular activities
- Applicant must not be a recipient of any other scholarship that comes with contractual obligations such as a service bond

5. Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB)

Students interested in studying electrical engineering, chemical engineering, environment or sustainability, data science and analytics, accounting, and computer science can apply for the TNB PRIME Scholarship.
This scholarship opportunity is open to eligible students planning to pursue their studies at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), public universities, or overseas universities.

6. Permodalan Nasional Berhad
Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) is currently only offering one scholarship for post SPM 2023 students. Successful applicants of the PNB Overseas Scholarship Award can study at local preparatory colleges designated by PNB before continuing their bachelor's degree studies at foreign universities.

7. Sin Chew Daily

The Sin Chew Daily Education Fund aims to help students in need to further their tertiary studies by helping them join free diploma or degree courses pledged by participating local educational institutions. This includes HELP University, Sunway University, The One Academy, UTAR, MMU, and more.

8. Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA)

JPA is offering three sponsorship programmes:
1. Program Khas Jepun, Korea, Perancis, dan Jerman (JKPJ)
- For students interested in engineering, science and technology (S&T), and social science in Japan, Korea, France, and Germany
2. Program Penajaan Nasional (PPN)
- Available for 20 students
3. Program Khas Lepasan SPM Dalam Negara (LSPM)
- For SPM graduates who achieved at least 9A+'s to further their studies study at a public university, government linked university, or a private higher education institution (IPTS) in Malaysia

9. Yayasan UEM

Yayasan UEM is providing two scholarships, namely the Undergraduate Global Scholarship and the Undergraduate Wira Scholarship, for students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate studies in these courses:
- Business (finance/business management/accounting/economics)
- Engineering (civil/mechanical/electrical)
- IT and computer-related subjects (computer science, computer system and networking, software engineering, data science, and data engineering)

10. Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM)

The Kijang Scholarship 2024 provides tuition fees, subsistence allowance, as well as other related scholarship allowances to students. The scholarship is open to those looking to pursue a tertiary education in fields of study associated with the BNM's core business and activities such as economics, accounting, finance, actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, law, data science, and computer science.
Eligibility requirements:
- Open to Malaysian citizens only
- Not older than 19 years old (as of 1 July)
- Excellent SPM examinations result: A minimum of 8A's (A and A+ only)
- Strong leadership qualities, proven teamwork capabilities, outstanding performance in extra-curricular activities
- Exceptional interpersonal skills

11. The Star

The Star Education Fund scholarship provides financial assistance to SPM or equivalent graduates applying for pre-university courses, including foundation studies leading to degree, diploma, A-Levels, and Australian Matriculation.
Eligibility requirements:
- Malaysian citizens not older than 25 years old
- Excel in extra-curricular activities or active in sports
- Not bonded to or has received any financial aid or awards from other educational institutions or organisations
- Possess reasonably good results in SPM/UEC or equivalent (for foundation/diploma courses)

13. Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA)

The Young Talent Development Programme (YTP) is specifically for students who have achieved excellent SPM results to study at local higher education institutions and selected international universities from foundation to first degree studies.
MARA is looking for those keen on pursuing their studies in computing, health science and medicine, engineering, arts and design, and social science.
Eligibility requirements:
- 18 years old at the time of application
- Achieved excellent results for their SPM examinations
- Passed the MARA Student Assessment Program (MSAP)
- Active and excellent involvement in co-curriculum activities
- Priority will be given to the B40 group

14. Shell

- Engineering (mechanical, civil, chemical, petroleum, electrical & electronics, environmental, and sustainable)
- Sciences (geology, geosciences, geomatics, geophysics, and data science)
- Commercial (business & management and digital marketing)
Eligibility requirements:
- Strong leadership skills and active participation in extracurricular activities such as societies and clubs, sports, etc.
- Not currently holding other scholarships or loans
- Minimum 8A's (A/A+) in SPM or excellent O-level grades at IGCSE (A*/A)
- Willing to pursue A-levels at selected boarding institution

Yayasan Peneraju PPAM A is a scholarship specifically targeting SPM graduates who are interested in furthering their studies in fundamental level certificates such as Foundation in Accountancy (FIA) and professional certificates such as Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Eligibility requirements:
- A Malaysian citizen and Bumiputera
- 19 years old and younger
- Minimum 5A's in SPM or O-level with minimum A's in Mathematics and English subjects

16. Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC)

SPM graduates who want to go into the nursing field are welcomed to apply for the SJMC Nursing Scholarship. SJMC will fully cover your tuition fees and living expenses until graduation.
Eligibility requirements:
- A Malaysian citizen between 18 and 25 years old
- SPM/O-level qualification with a minimum of five credits in Malay, English, Science, Mathematics, and one additional subject (for the Diploma programme)
- UEC candidates who have completed their SPM are encouraged to apply
- Fluent in Malay and English (proficiency in other languages is advantageous)

17. Hong Leong Group

The Hong Leong Foundation Scholarship provides financial aid to students intending to pursue further studies in Diploma or Undergraduate Degree programmes in any course or field of studies on full-time basis.
Eligibility requirements:
- Open to Malaysian citizens aged between 17 and 25 years old who have sat for the SPM/STPM examination in 2023
- Open to those currently doing their Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Degree programme (Year 1, 2, or 3) in any recognised local colleges and universities
- Total household income must be RM5,000 and below per month

The Axiata Foundation All-Star Bestari Scholarship provides students with financial support to cover their education and living expenses for the duration of pre-university studies in a local public institution.
Eligibility requirements:
- Open to Malaysian citizens aged 19 years old and below
- Has a monthly combined household income of RM4,850 and below
- Have a minimum of 6As in SPM or equivalent courses, including A+, A, or A- for any subjects

2024 OCBC Public Scholarship is open to those who seek to pursue their undergraduate studies in their desired field, alongside meeting the bank's needs. Additionally, there will also be internship opportunities with OCBC Bank to gain first-hand working experience.
Eligibility requirements:
- A Malaysian citizen who has gained admission (or is eligible for admission) into their full-time undergraduate studies
- Holds leadership positions in extra-curricular activities, societies, and clubs in school/university
- Possesses a dynamic personality with excellent communication and critical thinking skills
- Must not be a recipient of other scholarships or awards from any other organisations and/or institutions
- First-year students are welcomed to apply
