TikTok's userbase is rapidly growing in Southeast Asia

According to an August 2020 report in Reuters, at close to 400 million downloads, more than half of the region's 630 million population is already using the popular video-sharing platform.

It is ranked first amongst video apps in countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia.

Given the growth in the SEA region, its parent company ByteDance has set its eyes on the Malaysian market.

The company is looking to hire people based in Kuala Lumpur.

It has a total of 62 job openings with positions that include Quality Assurance Lead, Content Review Team Leader, Senior Delivery Lead, Quality Assurance, Content Moderator, Ads Service Specialist and more.

Requirements for the positions vary, but most do require prior experience. For example, the position of Quality Assurance Lead has a minimum three-year working experience requirement in a similar role.

Meanwhile, for the position of Content Review Team Leader, ByteDance is looking for someone who can help grow the local content moderation team and oversee their day-to-day management.

According to the details provided in the job listing, the position involves "exposure to sensitive content, including but not limited to vulgar content, violence, pornography, and fake news".

It also requires a deep understanding of ASEAN online safety, privacy, and expression issues.

A review of the company's rating on the JobStreet portal showed that it has been given 4.8 stars by 77 former TikTok employees

While the ByteDance listing for jobs in KL does not mention salary, according to the former employees' reviews on the JobStreet, 94% rate salary as high or average.

93% of the employees also recommended TikTok to their friends.
