10 KL Events This Weekend If You Have An Itchy Butt & Wanna Go Out For Some Fun

Although Chinese New Year festivities are slowly coming to an end, don't fret! There are still a handful of events to attend before the month's over!

1. Pasar Gadis Reunion at Central Market (27-29 January, 10AM-8PM)

Looking to shop accessories, affordable brands, and food while supporting local? Well this is the event for you.

Always crowded, Pasar Gadis features countless booths selling clothes, shoes, handmade crafts, home-made desserts, and so much more. Not to mention, this is your chance to support local self-made businesses!

Located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, this event is free to enter and definitely worth checking out.

2. Thrifted! Pop Up Market by Bundle Expo at Sungei Wang Plaza (28-29 January)

After having a blast at Pasar Gadis, be sure to swing by a local thrift market happening over at Sungei Wang Plaza. Organised by Bundle Expo, mega deals and steals await you thrifty folks. 

The pop up event is also free entry and only happening this weekend, so be sure to check it out!

3. Poetic Spring Garden at Kwai Chai Hong (6 January-12 February, 9AM - 12AM)

Still on the hunt for more Chinese New Year themed Instagrammable spots? Well, we've got you covered.

Pay a visit to the Poetic Spring Garden art exhibition happening over at Kwai Chai Hong. Free of charge, you'll be able to relive an olden day Malaysian Chinatown filled with interactive murals.

Open daily to the public until 12 February, be sure to come dressed in your best Chinese New Year fits! Don't forget to bring along an obedient cameraman who won't complain and knows how to snap your best angles.

4. Your Job Is A Joke at The Joke Factory, Publika (27-28 January, 8.30PM)

Feeling glum about going back to work after the extra long weekend off?

Well, laughter is the best medicine!

Come enjoy comedy show "Your Job Is A Joke" featuring local comedians James Soo, Vishnu, Abdul Raqib, and more. Hosted by Sulaiman Azmil, you're sure to have a good chuckle and feel a lot better going back to the grind next week.

5. Pokémon Violet and Scarlet Road Show at Sunway Pyramid (26-29 January)

Pokémon fans are going to want to hear this.

The third Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet Roadshow is launching at Sunway Pyramid this weekend!

All trainers are invited to bring your consoles and join in on the fun. Make sure to also keep an eye out for the cute Pikachu stage performance!

6. Yi Meng Lion Art's lion dance performance + sharing session at REXKL (28-29 January, 12PM)

It is definitely not Chinese New Year without our furry dancing friends. 

Yi Ming Lion Art (YMLA), one of Malaysia's best lion dance troupes will be hosting a performance and sharing session at REXKL this weekend. 

Participants will get the chance to enjoy the astonishing performances by the lions as well as learn the rich history and culture behind the traditional art form.

7. Film Camera Market 4.0 at REXKL (28-29 January, 10AM-6PM)

Calling all shutterbugs and print art enthusiasts alike.

REXKL will also be hosting a film camera market featuring vendors from local stores Film Gazing, Rewind Film, Stardzzle merch, and Malaysian film society, The Film Things

At this event, you'll also get the limited edition chance to participate in an instant portrait session hosted by Jeffrey Lim of Kanta Studios

8. Panggung Lapan Art weekend at Jalan Panggung (28-29 January, 10AM-10PM)

Looking to get in touch with your artistic side this Chinese New Year? Check out the many workshops, exhibitions, and performances happening along Jalan Panggung this weekend.

The workshops will be held at Findars, and it includes classes on blouse pattern making, crystal bead bracelets making, home-made soap making, and tie dying.

The prices go as low as RM30 per person and you get to leave with art that you've created!

The exhibitions will be held at Lostgens', and will be showcasing Chinese New Year wood block print art, letterpress printing, and letterpress ang pow prints.

They will also be having performances at Moutou, featuring local artists Euseng Seto, Azmyl Yunor, StrawLim, and Karpet Terbang.

9. Love Potion Pop Up by The Messy Club at Kedai, KL (28-29 January & 4-5 February, 10AM-8PM)

Hoping to support local but not keen on the crowded city scene?

Here's another pop up promoting a variety of local vendors selling clothing, food, beverages, and crafts.

Organised by The Messy Club, the event will be happening over the course of two days so if you can't make it tomorrow, go on Sunday!

10. Lepak Weekends at Rumah Artis, KL (28-29 January, 10AM-10PM)

Finally, if you're just looking for a chill weekend off, try this event.

Chill and meet new faces at the Lepak Weekends event happening at Rumah Artis this Saturday and Sunday. This event is free entry and will feature a pop up by ANBOT store and Old VW Malaysia. Food and drink booths will also be available.
