Food is sometimes used as means to show someone you like them.

Unfortunately, one woman clearly wasn't feeling the love when she deemed the food she was served by her boyfriend's family "too simple".

According to a Weibo profile featuring the latest news, the woman from China shared that she travelled two and a half hours by car to her boyfriend's parents' home, situated in a rural area of Sichuan.

During her visit, she was served noodles with fried eggs, pumpkin porridge, stir fried vegetables, and various cold dishes.

Underwhelmed with the spread she was presented with, she questioned her boyfriend as to why "fancier" dishes were not served for her first meeting with his parents.

He replied, "This is exactly what is served in the daily life of common folks."

Unsatisfied with his response, the woman felt like she was not treated well during her stay

"He knows I don't like noodles, but a noodle dish was served for every meal," she complained.

Having reached her breaking point, the woman decided to pack her bag and leave after spending only two days there.

She also made the decision to break up with her boyfriend.

The woman's story has since gone viral on Weibo and many netizens chimed in to support the woman's behaviour

"I think this boyfriend doesn't care about his girlfriend. He serves her food that he knows she doesn't like," commented a netizen.

"The woman did not do anything wrong. Since ancient times, women have always strived to find good partners," said another.

One Weibo user even said that it was the right decision for the woman to end her relationship and hoped that she could find a more suitable boyfriend in the future.

However, one netizen was on the fence and said that no one was at fault in this situation. It was just a matter of them having a different viewpoint from each other.
