This spot is a local favourite, with crowds streaming in early and filling up both the aircond and open dining area, even on weekday nights. During weekends and special occasions like Chinese New Year, a reservation will ensure you don't get disappointed.

Some of the standout dishes include fried garlic pork, pumpkin tofu, fried brinjal, and a variety of fish dishes, like steamed fish, assam fish, and curry fish.

Dishes here range from the usual fare you'd expect like yam ring with kung po chicken and fried tilapia, to slightly more interesting dishes like tofu with crab roe and bitter gourd with bean sprouts. For big groups, order the signature One Stick Bone, a melt-in-your-mouth braised pork dish perfect for sharing.

3. Restauran 9888 Fatt Kee | Cheras

They serve a variety of special dishes, including off-the-menu items you won't know about unless you ask the waiter taking your order. Some of the unique dishes here include the steamed patin buah, which comes in a homemade sauce, as well as the yam with chives.

4. Restaurant Luck Kee Seafood | PJ

This well-established Chinese restaurant has been frequented by Taman Paramount residents and visitors for decades. Some of the famous dishes include the yam ring and Treasure Chest Beancurd.

Within the restaurant, there's also a longstanding vendor who sells roast duck, but be sure to place an order in advance during peak festive season. Do prepare cash when you visit this restaurant, as they do not accept cards or e-wallets at the time of writing.

5. Lau Heong Seafood Restaurant | Sentul

If you're looking for delicious food that's suitable for big groups, this spot near the Sentul wet market is a must-try.

Famous for their seafood, some of the dishes you should order include their signature fish head curry, seafood hotplate, and Sichuan steamed stingray. Make sure to also get the har cheong (prawn paste) fried chicken, which makes for a good appetiser.

This popular dai chow restaurant in Klang has been around for ages, and they continue to draw crowds for their unique dishes.

Regulars will recommend the ginger steamed fish and roasted duck with super crispy skin. You also won't go wrong with the sweet and sour pork, which is always packed with flavour.

7. Robson Heights Seafood Restaurant | KL

This place is known especially for their crab, which you can get in butter sauce, chilli and pepper, or other flavours. For something special, try their crab claypot rice.

But if that's not your kind of thing, they also serve prawn claypot rice and lap mei rice, which are equally tasty. Other dishes worth trying are the lamb stew, honey spare ribs, and fried crispy noodles with prawns.

8. ZK Restaurant | Pudu

This restaurant in Pudu serves up a range of speciality dishes that you probably won't find elsewhere. While they do serve your usual dai chow fare, you can also try unique dishes like the hundred flower chicken, two-layer roast chicken-fish fillet, and even Iberico pork dishes.

Space and parking can be an issue, but regulars will tell you a meal here is always worth the trouble.
