Muslim coffee drinkers in Malaysia, take note! Gigi Coffee has announced that they've just been officially halal certified by Islamic Development Department Malaysia (JAKIM).

The brand, which has grown into one of Malaysia's most prominent coffee drinks chains over the past few years, revealed that it has successfully obtained halal certification for its outlets and is actively working to get the remaining ones certified, reinforcing its commitment to providing quality products to its customers.

Successfully earning a halal certification means that Gigi Coffee can continue to serve its Muslim customers smoothly while remaining inclusive, culturally diverse, and respectful of Malaysia's multi-ethnic society.

"We're delighted to announce that we have officially received the halal certification, and with this achievement, it reflects our ongoing dedication to product quality and our goal of serving a broader customer base.

"We're committed to maintaining the highest standards across our outlets, ensuring that Gigi Coffee offers halal-certified products and services. This allows us to create an environment where everyone can enjoy our meals and beverages with full confidence in our adherence to strict product quality and regulatory standards," said Ts. Au Soon Yong, Group COO of Gigi Coffee.

The certification is part of the company's broader strategy of focusing on maintaining high standards across all parts of its operations, ranging from product sourcing to service delivery.

In addition to coffee products, Gigi Coffee also incorporates innovative menu items, seasonal selections, and many collaborations with other brands and suppliers. The brand also has other initiatives, such as a customer loyalty programme, exclusive perks and deals, subscription passes, and seamless order pickup options — all available through the Gigi Coffee Mobile App.

"We understand the importance of quality and inclusivity to our customers, and we are committed to ensuring that these values are reflected in every cup of coffee we serve.

"Our halal certification is just one more step in delivering a truly inclusive and welcoming environment for all," said Soon Yong.

Gigi Coffee has also gotten the go-ahead to kickstart its very own barista training programme

After receiving official accreditation from Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran (JPK) under the Ministry of Human Resources, the brand is set to launch its Sistem Latihan Dual Nasional (SLDN) barista training programme.

The programme will combine practical experience with structured learning, ensuring that its baristas develop proper coffee-making skills while also gaining crucial customer service, hygiene, and workplace safety knowledge.

Apprentices who complete the SKM Barista Services Level 2 certification will then have the chance to hone their skills further with the SKM Barista Services Operation Level 3 certification, ensuring consistent progress in the coffee industry.
