Award-Winning 11-Year-Old M'sian Inventor Wins Praise From US Talk Show Host James Corden

In less than a month, 11-year-old Maryam Muzamir has become a household name in Malaysia, thanks to the local coverage she has received for converting seafood shells into sustainable livestock feed
Among a number of national news outlets, SAYS reported about the young schoolgirl from Kuantan earlier this month and how she beat over 600 participants from over 70 countries at the recently-concluded International Invention Innovation Competition (iCAN) in Toronto, Canada.
The Standard Five student at SK (P) Methodist Kuantan formulated a new form of livestock feed made out of ground shrimp and sea snail shells, calling the product 'YAM 2.0'.
Her invention earned her three prestigious awards at iCAN 2021.
Maryam is inspired by youth climate activist Greta Thunberg and wants to tackle the reported 15,000 tonnes of food waste that is being produced nationwide on a daily basis.

And now her name has reached the US with The Late Late Show with James Corden highlighting her innovation at such a young age
In an episode aired on 23 September and with a focus on the issue of climate change and sustainability, the host, James Corden, applauded Maryam's work and uploaded a clip from the episode on Twitter.
The clip has since gone viral with over 650,000 views and more than 18,000 retweets.
It begins with James gushing over Maryam's young age and praising her invention.
"Maryam Muzamir — she's an 11-year-old young girl in Malaysia. She found the use for a common food waste... seafood shells and she makes those shells into a new sustainable, healthy livestock feed. She's 11-years old! Yeah, in Malaysia," James says as the studio audience starts to clap.
He then goes on further highlight how Maryam has already won three international awards.
