A gang of robbers broke into a farm in Raub, Pahang, on Monday, 15 July, stealing Musang King durians worth RM3,000 and injuring a farmer in the process

In a press conference held outside the Raub district police headquarters yesterday, 16 July, the victim's brother said the victim, Huang (transliteration), visited his farm at 11pm on Monday after being alerted of the attempted robbery, reported Sin Chew Daily.

"When my brother arrived at his farm, he saw a group of about 12 robbers.

"He asked them what they were doing and one of them retrieved a machete from their car before slashing him on the head. He was slashed four times," he said.

Huang suffered injuries to his head and arms in the attack by about 12 robbers, revealed his brother.

It is understood that Huang notified other farmers in the area after he received the tip-off on Monday night

Huang's brother mentioned that farmers in Raub are members of an online group chat to communicate with each other, reported China Press.

On the night of the incident, a farmer surnamed Xiao (transliteration) discovered Huang lying injured on the ground while patrolling his farm.

Speaking to Nanyang Daily, Xiao also said he witnessed the robbers fleeing the scene after attacking Huang.

Huang was rushed to Kuala Lipis Hospital for emergency treatment.

Blood spatter was discovered at the crime scene.

Save Musang King Alliance (SAMKA) chairman Wilson Chang urged the police to take swift action to prevent further unrest among farmers

At the press conference yesterday, Chang said many farmers informed him about durian thefts in Kampung Sungai Klau, Sungai Ruan, Sungai Chalit, and Kampung Tras, among other areas.

"This group of robbers is well-organised. There are about 12 of them. Apart from stealing durians, they also steal water pumps, lawnmowers, and agricultural tools," he said.

Chang mentioned that the robbers also strike in the afternoon, typically riding motorcycles into durian farms and coordinating with pickup trucks to transport the stolen durians.

He said such illegal activities have affected farmers' livelihoods. Huang's brother had lodged a police report regarding the incident.
