15-Year-Old Student Left Seriously Injured After Falling From School Building

The Kuala Selangor district police chief said that preliminary investigations showed no foul play was involved.

A 15-year-old female student sustained serious injuries after surviving a fall from her school building yesterday, 21 April

The student was believed to be suffering from stress related to studies, reported New Straits Times.

Preliminary investigations by Kuala Selangor district police showed there was no foul play involved in the incident

"Initial investigations revealed the girl had been suffering from stress," district police chief Supt Ramli Kasa told New Straits Times, adding that the student broke her leg and fractured her spine due to the fall.

Ramli added that the student received emergency treatment for the broken leg at a district hospital. However, she was transferred to the Sungai Buloh Hospital to receive care for her spinal injury.

The case will be investigated under Section 309 of the Penal Code

Ramli said, "The case is being investigated under Section 309 of the Penal Code for attempted suicide."

If convicted, the punishment will carry a one year term of imprisonment or fined or both.
