Muar has launched its own concept of a mobile vaccination unit to speed up the distribution of vaccines in rural areas

It was recently announced that the government will deploy 40 vaccination trucks across the country to get to residents living in out-of-reach areas.

To add on to the national movement, Muar District Health Office has collaborated with bus company Mayang Sari Express to make their own mobile vaccination units.

Johor-based doctor Rosli Abdul Jalil shared photos of the repurposed bus on Wednesday, 9 June

His Facebook post showed that the bus seats have been removed and replaced with tables, chairs, and medical equipment, making up five vaccine stations.

Compared to the vaccine trucks deployed nationwide, these buses will be able to accommodate a small number of people to get vaccinated in the comfort of the bus itself.

"This is a creative idea from the people of Muar. Congratulations to those involved in this project, hopefully this will be an example for the other districts in Johor to follow," Rosli said.

Many netizens welcomed the concept and said it was a good initiative

"Wouldn't it be the best if they can deploy many units like these? More people will get the vaccines faster," commented a Facebook user.

Another netizen said, "Looking at a moving bus like this, I remembered the moving libraries we had at school before. Whatever it is, great idea!"

This netizen said, "This is good to be sent to kampung and rural areas. Make more mobile vaccination centres, then we can distribute wider and get more people vaccinated faster."
