The students — aged 21, 22, 24, and 26 — were taken into custody at about 2.30pm on 27 November under suspicion of being involved in drug trafficking activities.

Muar district police chief ACP Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said the police also seized approximately 304g of marijuana

According to Raiz, the police were alerted by a university security guard who discovered marijuana in the dorm rooms during a routine security check.

"Subsequently, the police team went to the location and confirmed the presence of the illicit substance. Urine tests on all suspects also came back positive for marijuana," Harian Metro quoted him as saying.

"The suspects are currently remanded to assist in the investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment upon conviction," he added.
