Immigration Department Confirms Site Is Down After Alleged Cyberattack By Hacker
In the website description, the hacker stated that they hacked the website "just for fun".
The Malaysian Immigration Department's (JIM) website was allegedly hacked by an Internet user with the moniker 'CaptainSmok3r'
At the time of writing, searching for the government body's website on Google will land you an odd search result.
Instead of displaying 'Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia', the website title has been changed to 'Hacked By CaptainSmok3r'.
In the website description, the hacker also stated that they hacked the website "just for fun".
"Stamped by CaptainSmok3r. Just for fun, thanks to sh..r for making this fun," read the description.
They also wrote an Arabic text that reads, "To the health of the rule that he taught, if you are single, you are higher than the king."

JIM has responded to the alleged cyberattack via their social media accounts
The government agency confirmed in a Facebook post that they are currently working on fixing the website.
"Please be informed that the website of the Malaysian Immigration Department which is www.imi.gov.my, is temporarily under maintenance," it wrote.
They also apologised to the public for the disruption and encouraged people to follow their official social media accounts.
