The Sabak Bernam Social Welfare Department (JKM) is looking for the mother of the two siblings left in their care after their father, a yau char kwai seller who went viral, passed away recently

According to Sinar Harian, Sabak Bernam JKM is seeking the help of the public to find the next-of-kin for 10-year-old Putri Intan Joni and seven-year-old Putri Andini Joni.

The two girls were taken into the department's care on 23 March after their father, Joni Saragih, passed away due to heart failure at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Klang Hospital (HTAR) on 3 March.

It is reported that the single father was the sole caretaker of his two daughters

The social welfare department said the only known next-of-kin is the birth mother of the two girls, who is an Indonesian citizen known as Ning Turuti.

"The children informed us that their biological mother had returned to Indonesia but we cannot confirm the authenticity of that information," JKM said in a statement on Wednesday, 31 March.

The department said efforts are being made to trace the children's mother to help the court make the best decision for their placement and welfare

If the public has any information regarding the children's mother or a next-of-kin, they are encouraged to contact the Sabak Bernam JKM at +603-32242304 or +603-32244873.

The father passed away after struggling with breathing difficulties:

Joni sold yau char kwai, five-spice doughnuts, and red bean paste doughnuts for RM1 each. Read about his journey here:
