Khairy Announces Cyberjaya Hospital To Fully Operate As A Public Hospital

The opening of a new healthcare clinic in Cyberjaya is with hopes to reduce outpatient waiting, the Health Minister said.

Cyberjaya Hospital will operate fully as a public hospital under the Ministry of Health (MOH), with a new health clinic in addition to it, according to Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

In a statement on Tuesday, 11 October, he stated that during a Cabinet meeting on Friday, 7 October, Cyberjaya Hospital was unanimously approved to operate as a major specialist hospital, which will be implemented in phases from 11 November.

Built on a site of a 5.2-hectares, work on the nine-storey Cyberjaya Hospital began on 15 August 2017, and it was handed over to the MOH on 15 June 2021.

The now-public hospital will have 288 beds, an emergency block, and 1,006 parking bays, and 790 parking bays in its multi-storey car park.


The Health Minister said that the hospital will be a top-tier provision to fulfil the high demand for health care services

There will be a provision of 14 specialist and healthcare services offered at the hospital, including emergency services, general medicine, general surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, orthopaedics, psychiatry, and mental health, as well as dentistry.

Meanwhile, the opening of the new clinic in Cyberjaya is with hopes of reducing outpatients waiting, Khairy added

He said that he is fully aware of the urgent need for a new healthcare facility in the Sepang district to ease congestion at the Dengkil Health Clinic.

"The operation of Cyberjaya Hospital as a public hospital and the opening of the Cyberjaya Health Clinic will provide access to quality and comprehensive government healthcare services to the surrounding population," Khairy said.

 "This will reduce the waiting time and congestion at the nearby health facilities, namely Serdang Hospital, Kajang Hospital, and Putrajaya Hospital."
