Loke Yew Roundabout To Close For A Year Starting 5 August — Here Are Other Routes To Use
Renovation work and the construction of an overhead bridge are the reasons for the closure.
Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) announced that several roads will be closed from this Saturday, 5 August, until August next year to make way for renovation work and the construction of an overhead bridge at the Loke Yew roundabout
In a statement posted to the DBKL Facebook page, the affected routes are the Jalan Sungai Besi road, which leads to Sungai Besi or Petaling Jaya (opposite Fraser Business Park), and the Loke Yew Roundabout.
The city council also provided several alternative routes for road users to access, depending on their origin destination around the roundabout.
To ease the troubles for frequent users of the roundabout, here are the alternative routes provided by DBKL for Malaysians to manoeuvre around the area:
1. From the Kampung Pandan Roundabout to Sungai Besi or Petaling Jaya and vice versa
For road users who are heading towards Sungai Besi or Petaling Jaya via the Kampung Pandan Roundabout, a traffic diversion will be created which will be divided into two parts, through the road next to Federal Bakery located by Jalan Satu, and another through a contra route in an adjacent lane.

Alternatively, drivers headed in the opposite direction, from Sungai Besi or Petaling Jaya to the Kampung Pandan Roundabout, will be diverted to the left on the Loke Yew Roundabout.

2. Traffic coming from Cheras
Traffic from Cheras headed towards the direction of Jalan Loke Yew will only be allowed to make a U-turn back to Cheras.
This traffic route is intended to be permanent.
As for traffic coming from Cheras that are heading towards Jalan Sungai Besi, drivers may use four routes, namely Jalan Chan Sow Lin, Jalan Satu, Jalan Dua, and Jalan Tiga. A signboard for turning into Jalan Sungai Besi from Cheras will be provided.

For traffic coming from Cheras towards Jalan Yew, a U-turn needs to be made at the intersection of the flyover at Jalan Maharajalela.
Signboards for the U-turn at Jalan Maharajalela and the turn off to Jalan Yew will also be provided, according to the image posted by DBKL:

The same flyover route at Jalan Maharajalela will also be used for those who are heading towards the areas surrounding Jalan Yew:

3. Traffic coming from Jalan Kinabalu
For traffic coming from Jalan Kinabalu towards Jalan Loke Yew, drivers will need to use the diversion to Jalan Yew that is headed towards the Pudu Roundabout, before turning back towards Jalan Loke Yew.

The same route will also be taken for those heading towards Jalan Sungai Besi:

As an alternative to both of these diversions, road users may also go through the U-turn at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) (P) Pudu.
This change is intended to be permanent.

4. Traffic going towards Jalan Kinabalu and Jalan Kuching from the Kampung Pandan Roundabout
Jalan Yew via the Kampung Pandan Roundabout headed to Jalan Kinabalu and subsequently Jalan Kuching will be closed for the period of construction.
As an alternative for Jalan Yew, drivers coming from the Kampung Pandan Roundabout will need to use Jalan Kampung Pandan, Jalan Imbi, and Jalan Hang Tuah to head towards Jalan Kinabalu, and then Jalan Kuching.

5. Closure of slip road from Jalan Pudu to Jalan Yew
To make way for the demolition of the drawbridge and reconstruction of the bridge at the Pudu Roundabout towards Jalan Sungai Besi, which is next to the Pudu Police Station, the slip road from Jalan Pudu to Jalan Yew will be closed to all traffic users.
The alternative routes that are required to be used will be Jalan Sungai Besi, Jalan Chan Sow Lin, Jalan Satu, Jalan Dua, and Jalan Tiga, for both traffic users coming from Jalan Pudu and Jalan Cheras.
