In the statement published by The National Heart Institute (IJN) today, 16 December, it was revealed that the Adib has had progressive deterioration of his lung function over the past 24 hours.
"After thorough assessments, the lungs showed signs of consolidation and hardening of his lung tissue, thus making gas exchange ineffective," stated IJN, according to Malaysiakini.
As a result of his severe lung injury and the fact that his renal function has not yet improved, the 24-year-old's doctors reinserted the Veno-Venous Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (vv-Ecmo) system to assist in his respiratory requirements
