Today, 29 May, Malaysia recorded 9,020 new COVID-19 cases
It's the highest four-digit mark recorded by the country so far.
Prior to today's numbers, the Ministry of Health (MOH) had reported a total of 8,290 new cases yesterday.
The COVID-19 situation has worsened in the country
A number of states have been reporting a high number of cases with Selangor recording the most.
In order to further stop the spread of the virus, the government yesterday, 28 May, announced a total lockdown that will be last for 14 days from Tuesday onwards.
Selangor, once again, recorded the highest number, state wise
Out of today's total 9,020 new cases reported in the country, Selangor alone reported 2,836 cases.
Meanwhile, Kelantan, Negeri Sembilan, and Kuala Lumpur each reported high three-digit numbers.
907 in Kelantan
898 in Negeri Sembilan
789 in Kuala Lumpur
Sarawak, too, reported three-digit numbers with 726 new cases today.
