Malaysia proudly secured third place at the prestigious 2025 Pastry World Cup, also known as the Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie, held recently in Lyon, France

Finishing just behind Japan and host country France, the Malaysian team — comprising of Fong Kah Mun (chocolate), Foo Yi Qing (sugar), and Tyler Tan (ice) — delivered an outstanding performance on the global stage.

The Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie is a renowned biennial competition that gathers the world's top pastry talents.

Teams first compete in national and continental selections before advancing to the grand final, which took place during the Sirha Lyon trade fair on 24 and 25 January this year.

For the 2025 final, each team — consisting of a chocolatier, a sugar expert, and an ice master — had just nine hours to craft an elaborate spread for the judges

According to the official website, their creations had to include three frozen desserts, ten plated restaurant-style desserts, 26 chocolate pieces, and three artistic sculptures, each made from chocolate, sugar, and ice.

A total of 18 teams competed for the coveted title, interpreting this year's theme, 'National Heritage'

For the young Malaysian pastry chefs, it was the perfect opportunity to showcase their technical mastery and creativity while celebrating our country's rich multicultural heritage on the world stage.
