Malaysian Earns Guinness World Record For Running London Marathon In Full Baju Melayu
Edan Syah ran the world-famous 2023 TCS London Marathon in traditional garb on Sunday, 23 April.
Malaysian marathon runner, Mohd Syahidan Alias, earned himself a Guinness World Record after impressively completing the 2023 TCS London Marathon in full traditional baju Melayu on Sunday, 23 April
Mohd Syahidan, more commonly known as Edan Syah, shared his joy of achieving the world record in London, UK on the second day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri in an Instagram post yesterday, 24 April.
"Mission accomplished! We achieved the mission in under three hours as the Guinness World Record holder for 'Fastest Full Marathon (42.2km) in Traditional Malay Dress (Male)' with a time of two hours, 49 minutes, and 22 seconds!" he wrote.
According to New Straits Times, Edan had also achieved a Guinness World Record in 2019 by completing the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival in Australia while wearing a Jalur Gemilang costume in record time of two hours and 54 minutes.

The runner's baju Melayu was custom-made and specially designed for his record attempt by a boutique based in Kuala Lumpur
The 36-year-old thanked local boutique Bulan Bintang, known for traditional clothing, for sponsoring his attire on his Instagram account yesterday.
"Thank you to @bulanbintanghq for your trust and opportunity to accept this 'out of the box' idea," he said.
"We have done our best to make baju Melayu great again. Thank you for your prayers and for supporting the journey. What's next?" Edan added.
In another post, he also thanked his supporters, who helped raise almost RM10,000 that he is donating to a disability charity, Livability UK, for his running campaign.

Many Malaysians have since poured in on his posts to congratulate the runner and commend him for accomplishing the feat
"He did all five buttons to the top of his shirt and his sampin did not even budge after running for close to three hours. You're the best, Edan Syah!" said a netizen.
