MCMC Says Those Found Sharing Viral Sex Video Could Be Jailed For A Year Or Fined RM50,000

MCMC's warning to Internet users comes after media reports published allegations by Haziq Aziz, who confessed to a sex video purporting to implicate Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali.

"The MCMC today, 12 June, warns all parties to refrain from uploading or sharing content that contains pornographic elements, as per Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

"Those found breaking the law can be jailed for a year, fined RM50,000 or both," it said in a statement Wednesday night, according to a report in The Star Online.

According to SoyaCincau, the commission will not hesitate to block websites that commit the offence of sharing sexually offensive content. In the meantime, MCMC will also be working with social media platforms like Facebook to curb the spread of such content.

"MCMC will continue to take appropriate measures to monitor the dissemination of content that violates the provisions of national law. MCMC will not hesitate to take decisive action and bring those involved to justice," the statement said, as reported by SoyaCincau.
