Malaysians excited to try Gardenia's new pandan coconut flavoured bread are accidentally bringing home the wrong loaves

The mix-up was highlighted by Facebook page 大吃一族 Big Eater, which noticed a large number of people posting about the same mistake on social media.

"Stop buying the wrong one!" the foodie page advised.

They informed their followers that Gardenia has recently stuck a new advertisement label for the Toast'em Pandan Coconut flavour on all Classic White Bread loaves, leading to the misunderstanding.

"The new pandan coconut flavour comes in dark green packaging," they said, showing the two breads side by side for clarity.

Unfortunately, the confusing new label on Gardenia's white bread has already had its fair share of victims

A quick search on Facebook showed many Malaysians sharing their woes about buying the wrong flavour.

"Tragic story. I've been wanting to eat that viral Gardenia pandan coconut bread... I was so happy to get one, until I reached home and realised the front was just the advertisement plastic!" said a Facebook user.

Another said, "Their advertisement fooled me... I was so excited, imagining how tasty the pandan flavour would be. I thought I bought the pandan coconut bread but turned out it was just white bread. Aduh."

Meanwhile, this netizen completely did not realise the difference and took to Facebook to ask, "Should the pandan coconut bread be green in colour like in the picture or white?"

"Why does this taste like the classic white bread? Did I get scammed?"

Gardenia has not addressed the matter

However, in a Facebook post on 20 August, they did inform customers of the new Toast'em advertisement on their Classic White Bread to encourage people to try them out.

SAYS has also reached out to Gardenia and they have no comment on the issue.
