Govt Releases Names Of Victims Who Died In Batang Kali & The Youngest Is A 1-Year-Old
Seven of the victims were identified as children.
The National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) has released the names of victims who died in the Batang Kali landslide
In a Facebook post at 4.40pm on Sunday, 18 December, the agency under the Prime Minister's Department said the list contained the details of victims who had been confirmed to be decased as of 1pm.
The list contained 21 names, seven of whom were identified as children.
The youngest victim was one-year-old Wong Zi Hang, followed by five-year-old Daniel Khor Yen, and six-year-old Ka Sin Ya Vanya.
The oldest victims were Lai Lee Koon and Liu Pei Si, both 44 years old.
Out of the total of 24 deceased, NADMA said they are still in the process of determining the identities of three others
According to the agency, all 24 victims had completed the autopsy process.
It used three methods to identify the victims: DNA identification, fingerprint identification, and face identification by the next of kin, or determining the identity through investigating their personal belongings as well as marks on their body.
NADMA also named the eight victims who have received treatment as of 9am on Sunday.
Five of them have been discharged, while the remaining three are still receiving treatment.
The Star reported today, 19 November, that the search continued for nine people still missing.
