PDRM: UMNO Putrajaya Office Did Not Have Approval For The Free Frozen Chicken Distribution

In a statement issued today, 16 January, ACP Mohd Fadzil said that checks by police showed that not only was the free chicken distribution event held without approval from the authorities, Putrajaya UMNO Youth had also failed to comply with COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).

According to him, the free frozen chicken distribution event was done via a drive-through concept which resulted in traffic congestion and crowding of many people at the location.

"The results of the police inspection found that physical distancing was difficult to implement among the attendees and the SOPs were failed to be complied with by the organizers and the public present," he said.

Prior to this, Putrajaya UMNO Youth vice-chief Mohd Zushaidey Zulkifli had claimed that the division had obtained the necessary approvals from the National Security Council (MKN) and the police.

"Compound fines have been issued to the organisers under Section 22(B) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988," ACP Mohd Fadzil said without mentioning the amount.

He assured that police would not compromise with any individual in enforcing the law during the movement control restrictions and advised people to always comply with the instructions issued by the government for the purpose of curbing and breaking the chain of COVID-19 infection.
