Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim announced that Friday, 3 December, is an additional public holiday for people in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan

The announcement was made in conjunction with Kuala Lumpur (KL) City FC scoring a historic win in the Malaysia Cup final on Tuesday, 30 November.

KL City FC defeated defending champions Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) with scores of 2-0, reported New Straits Times.

The win ended KL City FC's 32-year title drought.

The last time KL City FC won the oldest trophy in Malaysia was in 1989, reported Sinar Harian.

Shahidan said the announcement was made in accordance with Subsection 9(2) of the Holiday Act 1951 (Act 396) of the Federal Territories

The provision stipulates that "the Minister may, by notification in the gazette, or in such other manner as he thinks fit, appoint a day to be observed as a Federal Territory public holiday in the Federal Territory, and such day shall, except as hereinafter provided, be observed in the Federal Territory as a public holiday".
