The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is investigating a retired senior police officer for inviting police officers into his home on the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri, 13 May.
House visits during Aidilfitri is an offence under the recently reinstated nationwide Movement Control Order (MCO).
In a Facebook post last Thursday, the former Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department deputy director shared that the patrol officers were initially conducting standard operating procedure (SOP) checks at his home.
The officers suspected that his house had guests as there were six vehicles parked outside his house.
However, he explained to the officers that the vehicles belonged to his children, who travelled home within the district for Aidilfitri. Thus, he claimed that his family did not flout any SOPs.
Since the officers were already at his doorstep, he said that he invited the officers into his home to enjoy some lemang and ketupat. He also thanked them for agreeing to enjoy the treat at his home.
He added that the officers were from Section 6 Shah Alam police station.
In the photo attached to the post, only two of the seven individuals seated at the table can be identified as police officers by their dark uniform and badges.
The post caught the attention of netizens last week and it quickly went viral, causing PDRM to launch an investigation into the incident.

Shah Alam police chief ACP Baharuddin Mat Taib said that six policemen were involved in the incident
"Police were conducting checks at the house under a COVID-19 monitoring operation as there were six cars parked near the house," New Straits Times reported Baharuddin as saying on Saturday, 15 May.
He said investigations showed that the patrol officers involved were satisfied after finding out that the six cars belonged to the retired officer's children, all of whom were from the same district and were home to celebrate Aidilfitri.
Buletin TV3 reported that the suspect retired in 2007.

The case will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor for further instructions once investigations are completed, the district police chief said.
