Segamat Girl Who Crashed Her Car Was An SPM Student So Her Mum Took The Blame For It

Her mother surrendered herself to the police over the accident.

A 43-year-old mother from Segamat, Johor, took the blame for her daughter's car accident in October 2018 because she had SPM exams

China Press reported that the 43-year-old had surrendered herself to the police over a car accident that happened on 9 October 2018.

She reportedly told the police that she rammed into the back of another car on Jalan Hassan, Segamat.

Upon investigation, the mother was found to have lied about the car accident

She had told the police about the accident three days after it happened.

Nonetheless, police found that it was her 17-year-old daughter, an SPM student, who was involved in the accident.

"Her daughter has a driver's license. She was worried that her daughter's exams would be affected so she took the blame for the accident," Segamat district police chief Supt Raub Selamat was quoted as saying by China Press.

The 43-year-old has since been fined RM500 for falsifying a police report

The mother, who was charged under Section 182 of the Penal Code, pleaded guilty to her crime on 28 February.

Raub also reminded the public that falsifying a police report is punishable under the Penal Code. Offenders could face up to six months in prison, or fined up to RM2,000, or both.
