Sri Lankan Man Tries To Get Malaysian Passport By Pretending To Be A 10-Year-Old

He had also hired a Malaysian woman to act as his mother.

Immigration officers have arrested a Sri Lankan man who tried to apply for a Malaysian passport by pretending to be a 10-year-old

According to the New Straits Times, the man had gone to an immigration office in UTC Komtar, Penang, to get the passport.

State Immigration Department director Nur Zulfa Ibrahim said the man had presented documents passing himself off as a 10-year-old boy.

He was accompanied by a Malaysian woman, who claimed to be his mother.

However, the supervising officer quickly realised that the man's physical appearance did not match that of a 10-year-old child

Nur Zulfa said the man also did not seem to understand any of the questions asked by the officer.

"An initial investigation was then conducted by the head of the office on the man and his 'mother'," she said.

During questioning, the officers found that the man could not speak Malay or Tamil

"The woman also admitted that she had been given some money to pass off as his mother, while the main subject admitted to being a citizen of Sri Lanka.

"As a result, both were arrested under the Passport Act 1966," said the immigration director.
