M'sian Researcher Makes Stanford University's List Of Top 2% Of Scientists In The World

An associate professor at SEGi University in Malaysia has been listed by Stanford University as one of the top 2% of scientists in the world
Dr Rebecca Wong Shin Yee, the Associate Professor of Physiology and Head of Preclinical Sciences at SEGi University, is known within the medical fraternity for her research in leukemia, stem cells, and medical education.
According to New Straits Times, her medical research has earned her a spot in the US-based Stanford University's recently released research database of various disciplines by the top 2% of most-cited scientists worldwide.

Wong's interests in cancer, stem cells, and medical education has led to over 30 publications in international journals
Her works have been cited over 2,000 times and she has published five academic books in the field of physiology.
Having graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Universiti Malaya, Wong is also a trained and registered medical practitioner, recently earning a PhD degree and Masters in Medical Sciences (MSc).
"Being listed as one of the world's top 2% of scientists by Stanford University is a great honour," Wong told Bernama.
"I view this as a motivational force to continue pursuing my research and to do my best at being at the forefront of advancing healthcare."

The educator and researcher is also no stranger to prestigious awards and accolades, having previously won several in Malaysia and China
The latest award she won was the Malaysia's Most Impactful Young Educator Award in 2019, as well as one of the 10 Outstanding Young Malaysians' Awards by Junior Chamber International in 2018.
Besides doing her own research, Wong is also a frequent peer reviewer for high-impact international journals and is showing no sign of slowing down.
She was recently invited to be a peer reviewer at the International Conference on Digital Learning and Technology 2021, as well as a judge at the 11th Malaysian e-Symposium of Biomedical Science.
"SEGi is honoured to have one of our esteemed academics listed among the World's Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University," said SEGi International group executive director and group chief executive officer Hew Moi Lan in a report by Bernama.
