Starting 7 June, one lucky vaccinated villager in the Mae Chaem district of Chiang Mai province will be randomly chosen every week to win a young cow worth about THB10,000 (RM1,319.33)
In line with the government's national rollout, the campaign is set to run for 24 weeks and it has been met with enthusiasm since it was announced earlier this week, reported CNN.
"Our vaccine registration numbers have gone from hundreds to thousands in a couple of days," said district chief Boonlue Thamtharanurak.
"The villagers love cows. Cows can be sold for cash."
Meanwhile, the mayor of Muang Phon district located within the Khon Kaen province has announced that three lucky winners will get gold necklaces once 2,000 residents have been vaccinated
Thaiger reported that each necklace will weigh 1 saleung, a Thai gold measurement that equates to about 3.7g of pure gold. This is currently valued at about THB7,000 (RM924.15).
In order to be eligible to win a necklace, a person must be vaccinated and categorised as at-risk by having underlying health conditions or being over 60 years old.
On top of that, the mayor, Kittichote Triamwetwuthikrai, signed up 30 local businesses to offer a 10% discount for vaccinated folks.
The businesses participating in the campaign are made up of food and drink establishments, such as restaurants and street vendors.
Those vaccinated will receive a coupon to show at participating outlets to redeem their discount until the end of the year.
