Barbershop, Car Wash & Other Economic Activities Now Allowed To Open During Phase 1 Of NRP

In total, 11 types of economic activities in the states that are under Phase 1 of the National Recovery Plan will be allowed to operate from Monday, 16 August.

Starting Monday, 16 August, 11 economic activities in states that are under Phase 1 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) can operate

They are:
1. Hairdressers, barbers, and beauty parlours (only for haircuts),
2. Electrical and electronic shops,
3. Household items and kitchenware shops,
4. Furniture shops,
5. Sportswear shops,
6. Car accessory shops,
7. Car sales and distribution centres,
8. Morning markets and agricultural markets,
9. Fashion and accessory centres,
10. Jewellery shops, and,
11. Car wash centres.

The areas in Phase 1 of the NRP are:
- Putrajaya,
- Kuala Lumpur,
- Selangor,
- Negeri Sembilan,
- Malacca,
- Johor, and
- Kedah

Additionally, public recreational parks will also be allowed to open

The relaxed rules only apply to customers who are fully vaccinated, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced today, 15 August

He said the decision was taken after considering the risk analysis carried out by the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, and discussions with the stakeholders.

He also said that people must abide by additional rules such as wearing gloves or observe time limits when visiting premises and that business owners must inspect their digital vaccination certificates.
