Uncle Kentang To Contest in #GE15 As Independent & Face Off PH's Yeo Bee Yin
Kuan Chee Heng is a social activist and a former policeman.
Social activist Kuan Chee Heng has confirmed in a Facebook post today, 3 November, that he will be contesting in the Puchong parliamentary seat for the upcoming 15th General Election (GE15)
Kuan, more fondly known as Uncle Kentang, wrote that he is contesting in Puchong because "our friend" has left us, thus, the people in the area must rise again.
"We are gloomy, we are sullen. We give in because it is not our friend who was chosen to be the candidate. Not a local person as the candidate. Not a person who has served to become the candidate," he said.
"Don't worry and don't get angry. We still have a Chinese apek (uncle) who you can vote for."
"(I'm) someone you can meet every day at the mamak shop, at the office, at home, at the night market, at the morning market, at the hospital, on the side of the road when our children are lying covered in blood after traffic accidents, as well as when you are in trouble and have no money to buy food."
"I'm not an elite person, I'm an ordinary person (who's) easy to find. I don't only appear once every five years. I'm easy to find to listen to your problems."

At the time of writing, the post has garnered over 1,400 likes.
Although Kuan did not mention any names in the Facebook post, it is believed that he is referring to DAP Selangor chief Gobind Singh Deo, who has served the Puchong parliamentary seat for three terms
Malay Mail reported that Gobind will be contesting for the Damansara parliamentary seat, while incumbent Bakri lawmaker Yeo Bee Yin will take Gobind's place in GE15.
Kuan will be facing a multi-corner fight against Yeo (PH-DAP), Datuk Seri Syed Ibrahim Kader (BN-Kimma), and Chew Jyh Gang (PN-Gerakan).
In 2019, Kuan made his electoral debut in the Semenyih by-election.
According to Berita Harian, Kuan garnered the lowest votes with 725 counts, while Zakaria Haji Hanafi (BN-UMNO), Aiman Zainali (PH-PKR), and Nik Aziz (PN-Bersatu) received 19,780, 17,866, and 847 votes, respectively.
