[VIDEO] Johor BN Chief Says Singapore Would Be More Developed If It Was Led By UMNO

He made the statement during a joint interview with Chinese media on Wednesday, 9 March.

"I think if BN or UMNO was in Singapore, Singapore would be more developed than it is now," said Hasni, who is also the caretaker Johor Menteri Besar (MB).

Oriental Daily reported Hasni as saying that Singapore has a 15% Malay population.

According to him, if UMNO was in Singapore, it would also be the main political party in the nation and would be as strong as the ruling party — People's Action Party — in Singapore.

He added that Malaysians who travel to Singapore to work do not limit to Johoreans only, as people from Kedah and Kelantan travel to the neighbour county for work as well.

"Which is more developed, Singapore or Malaysia? Surely, it is Singapore," Free Malaysia Today reported Mohd Amar as saying, citing PAS-owned portal Harakahdaily.

"I'm sorry to be so direct in asking, but is UMNO in Singapore? Is BN in Singapore? No."

"This means without UMNO, it is easier to develop the country, so much so that many Malaysians cross the causeway every day to work in Singapore."

Mohd Amar, who is also Kelantan deputy MB, made the statement while campaigning at Benut, Pontian for the upcoming Johor state election.

PAS is contesting in 15 seats in the 56-seat state election under the Perikatan Nasional (PN) banner. The coalition is contesting in every seat tomorrow, reported Free Malaysia Today.

BN is also contesting in all 56 seats, with UMNO contesting in 37 seats, MCA 15 seats, and MIC four seats.

Meanwhile, Pakatan Harapan (PH) is contesting in 50 seats, Pejuang 42 seats, MUDA seven seats, Warisan six seats, Parti Bangsa Malaysia four seats, Putra one seat, and PSM one seat.

There are also 16 independent candidates.
