Man Killed While Installing Fireworks For New Year's Eve Show At A PD Hotel

One man was killed and another was left injured after fragments from exploding fireworks struck them on the roof of a car park building at a hotel in Port Dickson on Sunday afternoon, 31 December
The victims were employees of a fireworks installation company tasked with preparing for a New Year's Eve show at the hotel, said Port Dickson district police chief Supt Aidi Sham Mohamed.
While confirming the unfortunate accident, Aidi Sham said one of the victims, aged 40, died on the spot after suffering severe injuries to his face, while his colleague was taken to Port Dickson Hospital for treatment.
A minute-long video recording and photos capturing the massive explosion of several fireworks shells at the hotel went viral on social media
The video showed someone running away when the fireworks suddenly exploded on the rooftop. After the smoke cleared, a group of people hurried over in a state of confusion to check on their colleague.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
In the meantime, the police have classified the case as sudden death, reported Bernama.
