Malaysia Reaches Thomas Cup Semi-Finals For The First Time In 8 Years
The national team will face China for a spot in the finals on Saturday, 4 May.
Malaysia has made it into the semi-finals of the 2024 Thomas Cup with a 3-1 win against Japan in Chengdu, China
It was a memorable moment when Malaysia's second men's doubles pair, Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzudin Rumsani, delivered the team's third and winning point in the quarter-finals yesterday, 2 May.
They won 18-21, 21-14, 21-12 in a nail-biting match against Japan's Akira Koga and Taichi Saito.

The national team took the lead when world No. 10 Lee Zii Jia crushed Kenta Nishimoto 21-13, 21-3 in the first singles match
In the second match, Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik narrowly lost 18-21, 21-14, 21-19 against Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi, but second singles player Leong Jun Hao restored Malaysia's lead by defeating Koki Watanabe 21-13, 21-10.
According to the New Straits Times, this is the first time in eight years that Malaysia has reached the Thomas Cup semi-finals, rekindling hopes of ending the country's 32-year title drought.
