Apple finally launched the much-awaited iPhone 13 line and they are introducing several models that come with a full terabyte (TB) of internal storage

During the Apple Event on 14 September (15 September in Malaysia) the company showcased a total of four new models  – iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

The devices look similar to their predecessor, the iPhone 12, but they come with a smaller display cutout at the top of the screen, faster chips, and upgraded camera systems.

The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are the first two iPhones to come with the option of having 1TB of internal memory.

According to the Apple website, the 1TB iPhone 13 Pro costs RM7,199 while the 1TB iPhone Pro Max is priced at RM7,599.

What can you do with 1TB of internal memory? Here's a list to help you visualise exactly how much storage is available on the device:

1. It's basically equivalent to eight iPhones that come with 128GB storage

Most files we see on a daily basis are stored in gigabytes (GB), megabytes (MB), and kilobytes (KB).

So how many kilobytes, gigabytes, or megabytes are in a terabyte? 1TB equals 1,000GB, 1,000,000MB or 1,000,000,000KB.

Dropbox stated that in comparison to the average smartphone, 1TB of storage is the same as roughly eight 128GB iPhones.

2. You can store up to two million photos

It all depends on the size of the photos, but according to Attiq Ur Rehman, an Enterprise Technology Solutions search engine optimisation executive, if the average size of a photo is 500KB, then a 1TB device can hold around two million photos.

Meanwhile, the Dropbox website noted that 1TB can be used to store roughly 250,000 photos taken with a 12-megapixel camera, which is exactly the type of camera that comes with the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

3. You can download 250 movies or store over 500 hours of high-definition videos

Kelly Brown, an IT professional and faculty member at the University of Oregon, said that this number stems from the assumption that each movie is approximately 120 minutes long.

And if that does not sound like a lot to you, 500 hours can be converted into a little bit over 20 days. Imagine storing 20 days' worth of your favourite movies and videos in one single device.

And that does not include the time you'll spend sleeping, eating, or living life away from your phone screen, by the way.

4. You can keep 75 million document pages

According to CloudNine, 1GB is estimated to be equivalent to 50,000 to 75,000 pages.

Of course, that can vary widely, depending on the file types and whether your file comes with different attachments.

Citing a report by Anne Kershaw on the cost to manually review 1TB of data, CloudNine stated that 1TB is generally estimated to contain 75 million pages.

Meanwhile, Tech Times noted that a single terabyte is so huge that it can hold about 337,920 copies of Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace, which is one of the longest and thickest novels ever written.

So if you're planning to store hundreds of thousands of novels, or write millions of document pages, you might need the iPhone 13 Pro or iPhone 13 Pro Max.

5. You can download an average of 500 social media apps

ASDA Mobile stated that depending on the overall size of the app, most social media applications take up between 5MB and 2GB of storage per app.

And if we take the bigger number of 2GB, a 1TB phone can carry about 500 apps at once.

We're not so sure if you'd want to sign up for 500 different social media accounts, but it's nice to know that you can do so with the iPhone 13 Pro or iPhone 13 Pro Max.
