Man Loses Over RM23,000 In NFC Touch 'n Go Card Scam From A Facebook Ad

The man was told that he would receive four cards for RM32.

A 55-year-old man from Jerantut, Pahang, got duped into losing RM23,514 through an NFC Touch 'n Go Card scam on Facebook

The victim saw a Facebook advertisement promoting a "family package" of four NFC Touch 'n Go cards for RM32, as reported by New Straits Times.

According to Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yusof, the man responded to the ad and was met with a scammer posing as an authorised seller.

When the man expressed interest, he was directed to a WhatsApp chat by the scammer

He was then instructed to give out his bank account details, including his username and password, to complete the payment. After realising that the payment had failed, he checked his bank account and realised that all his savings had been wiped clean.

The case is currently being investigated for cheating

As a reminder, steer clear of anything that might compromise your bank security. Police are urging the public not to download unverified apps or links shared by strangers, or share bank account details to unknown third parties.
