The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will ensure that telcos do not charges their customers extra fees for 5G access

Last week, the government announced that telecommunications companies would not impose additional fees on their subscribers who want to upgrade to 5G.

Now, MCMC will lend its support to the government to enforce this new ruling.

U Mobile, Maxis, and Yes 5G have been offering free access to the 5G network since last year

Following Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil's announcement on the matter, certain telcos allegedly still offer 5G access as a separate "booster" add-on with a pricing different from existing plans.

You may also contact the commission via their hotline at 1-800-188-030.

5G network services now cover 80.2% of populated areas in Malaysia. The government is planning to introduce the transition from one wholesale network to a dual network later this month.
