The Malaysian Armed Forces May Recruit Computer Hackers In The Near Future

Recruiting hackers into the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) can play a crucial role in enhancing the nation's defence against future cyber threats

This was revealed by Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin after launching the mid-term review of Malaysia’s Defence White Paper

He mentioned the increasing use of IT technologies by armed forces worldwide and also referred to real-life internet issues, such as how smugglers use drones to evade security forces.

Malaysia can't be left behind when it comes to hacking computer systems

The Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) may recruit personnel with technical skills to hack computer systems.

Mohamed Khalid also mentioned the expansion of the Singapore Armed Forces, which included the establishment of the Digital and Intelligence Service as its fourth branch.

Cyber defence is not new for ATM

The armed forces set up a cyber division last year and is now officially known to the public as the Defence Cyber and Electromagnetic Division.
