This 12-Year-Old Subang Kid With Crazy Vocals Uses His Talent For A Good Cause
Ryan began singing in his bathroom ever since he was six.
At six years old, some of us were probably still learning to sing 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'.
However, this boy from Subang Jaya was already belting out full-blown songs from his bathroom.
Meet Ryan Mahendran, a 12-year-old kid who uses his raw singing talent to help those around him
Ever since he was six, Ryan began singing in his bathroom daily.
It didn't take long before his mum and aunt recognised his skill and decided to send him for vocal lessons to improve it.
Inspired by vocal moguls Ariana Grande and Blackpink, Ryan often teams up and performs with Ethan Liaw, a 15-year-old with autism who plays the keyboard
The young boy volunteers at The Inclusive Outdoor Classroom (IOC), which is a voluntary organisation where children of all ages – with and without additional learning needs – do activities together.
Together with Liaw, Ryan performs at most events that the organisation gets involved in.
The latest one was a walk for autism hosted by MPSJ, where he performed, 'Jalur Gemilang' with another volunteer from the IOC, Brian Bijoy.
Aside from singing, the young songster also helps with storytelling and offers assistance to kids who need help during sessions
In 2016, he earned the Tuanku Bainun Young Changemakers Awards, where he was recognised for making a change in his community.
He was one of the 10 finalists among hundreds, selected for his voluntary work at The Inclusive Outdoor Classroom.
When asked what is his favourite thing about singing, Ryan shared that it's a way for him to express himself
"I can showcase my loud voice and I feel happy when I sing," the 12-year-old, who just sat for his UPSR exams, told SAYS.
The young boy also shared that he hopes to become a lawyer or to go into performing arts one day.
