1. Before their debut in 2007, Girls' Generation was known as 'Super Girls' and consisted of up to 12 members

SM Entertainment began putting together an all-female counterpart to their hit all-male group Super Junior in 2005 with a line-up of 11 internal trainees.

The group - temporarily named 'Super Girls' - underwent several line-up changes over the course of the girls' training stint before ending up with the final 9-member line-up.

The group - officially renamed to Girls' Generation or So-nyuh Shi-dae (SNSD) - is made up of Taeyeon, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona, Seohyun, and Jessica.
