5 Malaysian Parodies In 2018 That Prove We're Creative AF
From Lion King to the Avengers, we've definitely put ourselves on the map. :')
Malaysian composer Jaster Fong's parody of the 1975 hit details how we've all felt in the middle of the night – hungry, but only being able to afford a meal at a mamak.
The video has garnered nearly 19,000 shares on Facebook!
2. 'Aku Minum Arak'
A Sabahan recently transformed the iconic "Hakuna Matata" phrase from the Lion King to "Aku minum arak", in a reference to the drinking culture in the state for their harvest festival.
The parody shows scenes from the movie where Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa explore the African plains following Mufasa's death.
3. 'F**k You' Trap Remix
Kinabatangan MP Datuk Bung Moktar Radin shook the Dewan Rakyat in August with his vulgarity. While he escaped punishment after apologising to the Parliament, Bung did not escape the wrath of creative Malaysians.
Here's a remix of the scene he caused in August:
4. 'Dey' Uncle remix
A 42-year-old man who shouted "Dey" at the camera went viral shortly after the Seafield temple riot last month. According to him, he was disappointed at the situation caused by the riot.
To the man's surprise, his "Dey" video was turned into the #DeyChallenge, and subsequently remixed into a song:
5. The epic parody of the 'Avengers: Infinity War' trailer
A group of Malaysian students put together a low-budget remake of the trailer in March, and let's just say we're still incredibly impressed by it to this day!
The parody was SO good that it caught the attention of the Russo Brothers, directors of the movie themselves.
