Chinese Actress Fan Bingbing To Become Melaka's State Tourism Ambassador

The Chinese superstar is scheduled to visit the historic city next month.

Melaka will soon gain even more global exposure with the appointment of Chinese superstar Fan Bingbing as the state's tourism ambassador

The 42-year-old actress is scheduled to visit the historic city next month to promote Visit Melaka 2024, with her appointment as Melaka's tourism ambassador beginning on 15 June.

The news was announced by Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh on social media.

On his Facebook account, the chief minister shared that he had met with Fan's international manager, Jersey Chong, to discuss her upcoming visit.

"I believe the presence of Fan Bingbing, who's been appointed as ambassador for Visit Melaka 2024 will attract more tourists, especially from China and Asia, to visit Melaka," he said.

On Facebook, Fan has also teased her visit to the state, inviting her fans to meet her in Melaka

"Tuan tuan dan puan puan, I can't wait to see you! Chicken rice ball, satay celup, coconut shake, assam fish, roti canai, char kuey teow, durian cendol!!! What else? Semua sedapnya!" she wrote.

"Come to Melaka, we might meet by chance!" she added.

According to the New Straits Times, Fan is scheduled to visit Melaka from 14 to 16 June.

Alongside her successful acting career, Fan is one of the highest-paid and most popular celebrities in China

Fan boasts 63 million followers on Weibo, China's version of Twitter, and is often hailed as the face of Chinese culture and beauty, appearing as the ambassador for many international brands.

She is known for her iconic roles in The Empress of China and I Am Not Madame Bovary, a Golden Horse Award-winning film for which she received the Best Actress Award, as well as her appearances in Iron Man 3 and X-Men: Days of Future Past.
