The film finally hit cinemas last week after an 11-year ban.
Looks like it was worth the decade-long wait for 'Dukun', as the Mona Fandey-inspired horror film raked in a whoppin' RM6.2 million in the first four days of its release!
The impressive box office figure was announced by Golden Screen Cinemas on its Facebook page earlier today.
Initially slated for a December 2006 release, the film's release date was pushed back to March 2007 before it was shelved indefinitely due to its controversial nature.
After an 11-year wait, 'Dukun' finally saw the light of day after it was released in cinemas nationwide last week.
Officially released on 5 April, 'Dukun' also made RM1.5 million on its first day, marking it the top-grossing movie of all time for Astro Shaw
In a statement to Berita Harian, Astro Shaw head and executive producer Najwa Abu Bakar said that total earnings from 120 movie theatres across the country and in Brunei is the highest for a film produced and distributed by the company.
Directed by Dain Said, 'Dukun' revolves around conflicted lawyer Karim (played by Faizal Hussein) who becomes entangled with alleged murderer Diana Dahlan (Datin Seri Umie Aida) in his search for his missing daughter
The movie also stars Adlin Aman Ramlie as Datuk Jefri (Dahlan's eventual victim), Namron, Bront Palarae, Elyana, and Hasnul Rahmat.
