Ok fine, even if you've recently gone to a magic show, there's nothing wrong with going for another one. Because hey, it's magic!
Might we suggest setting a date to see The Misfit of Magic, Ed Alonzo? Before you scratch your head saying "who's that?" - just hold on a moment. You're probably already familiar with his work, but you just don't know that you know. ;)
Perhaps you've been charmed and entertained before by Barney Stinson's magic tricks in How I Met Your Mother. Well, it's all made possible by Ed Alonzo, with his role as a magic consultant on the show.
When you think of the Barney Stinson character of How I Met Your Mother, you think of "legendary" and also his knack for magic tricks. Bet you didn't know that all the cool magic tricks that Barney Stinson had up his sleeves in the show were actually created by Alonzo.
Remember the immigration officer during one of the episodes? That's actually Alonzo and his short cameo on the show.
What's even more endearing is, get this - Ed Alonzo And Neil Patrick Harris are actual besties in real life!
On an episode of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson in 2008, actor Neil Patrick Harris (who plays Barney Stinson on How I Met Your Mother) referenced Alonzo as his "best friend". HOW ADORABLE IS THAT?!
When he's not being super BFFs with Neil Patrick Harris, he has his hands full with consulting for other shows like Modern Family, American Horror Story, just to name a few
He was enlisted to work with Britney Spears to create illusions on her Circus Tour. And boy, were her shows extravagant!
In Britney Spears' 2009 Circus tour, she enlisted the expertise of Ed Alonzo to create illusions and she wanted to be part of his magic acts as well. "She's incorporated into major illusions. She'll do dissection, where she's sawed in half, and transposition, where she's in one place and ends up in another place. She's doing all the classic elements of magic." - Ed Alonzo, 2009.
Besides that, he has previously worked with Katy Perry on her MTV EMA performance and Usher on his OMG music video
Alonzo was also one of the magicians working on the late Michael Jackson's This Is It concerts
If there's one thing we know for sure, it is that he's one heck of a talented guy and he sure knows how to put on a good show. Plus, with an extensive and fascinating resume like that, it's hard not to be impressed by him.
