Magic: The Gathering's latest set is shaping up to be one of the important sets for the next five years

It's always exciting to see where Magic: The Gathering takes us, and this year has certainly been a wild ride. From the untamed spirit of the Wild West to the chilling mysteries of haunted houses, we've witnessed a wide range of captivating worlds and mechanics.

And now, we're going back to the basics with the upcoming core set: Foundations.

This is why Foundations is a bit more special compared to the other recent sets:

The Foundations set will be legal in Standard until 2029, which is a staggering five-year rotation period, compared to the other sets which adheres to the typical three-year rotation period

This extended lifespan also benefits players in other formats, as these cards will likely find a place in various casual and competitive settings.

We are curious to see how this extended legality will impact the Standard metagame in the long run. It will be interesting to witness how these cards shape deck construction and influence strategies for years to come.

Thanks to Wizards of the Coast, SAYS was given the opportunity to present a couple of preview cards:

1. Joust Through, a one-mana instant that damages attacking or blocking creatures

Joust Through looks to be a strong card in the current Standard meta as it can be used to take down small threats at a cheap cost of a one white mana.

It also comes with the added benefit of gaining you one life, which may make the difference between life and death, especially in matchups involving aggressive decks.

2. Mild-Mannered Librarian, a one-mana creature that can turn grow into a bigger threat

This card, while appearing harmless, works perfectly in aggro shells as it fills in the one-drop slot. Mild-Mannered Librarian can scale up to become a 3/3 creature as soon as turn four, making it a formidable creature on the board.

Foundations is right around the corner

Magic: The Gathering players will be excited to hear that the upcoming set is coming sooner than you expect it.

The set will be available at your nearest hobby stores starting from 15 November, with previews live as we speak! You can check out the other previews here.
