Together with her friends, Golden Horse Best Actress Sinje Lee recently produced a documentary series titled Dear Child, How Are You?
Encapsulating the life of Sinje Lee and the various aspects of being a modern, working mother, the documentary takes the audience on a trip back to Lee's hometown, Alor Setar, as she reminisces over her childhood.
It extends to her daily life in the city, looking back at her journey from taking care of her step-daughter in her 20s to being pregnant and giving birth to twin sons at the age of 40. She shares her joys and sorrows, as well as about the people and things that have inspired her along the way.
Dear Child, How Are You?, which has been playing in selected cinemas since 13 April, was produced by non-profit organisation, Little Yellow Flower Foundation
Little Yellow Flower's aim is to care for underprivileged children, improve learning environments, provide children with better educational opportunities, and help them move towards a better future.
In Dear Child, How Are You?, the documentary series explores different educational systems from the perspective of a career-oriented mother and her views on education. Lee accompanies her children to explore nature and cultivate interests, such as drawing, amid her busy work schedule.
As a first-time director, Lee, who is also the executive producer of the entire series, shared that it was not easy producing and filming at the same time
She took on the challenge to direct the 'Hilltop House' episode, while emerging directors, Tan Seng Kiat and Kethsvin Chee, directed two other episodes, featuring her as the main cast.
Lee believes that each family faces different educational problems, and the roles of teachers, parents, and children are important in the education process.
The series focuses on the theme of love, explores family relationships, parenting styles, and the interactive communication of love between parents, educators, and children.
Suitable for parents with kids, you can watch the first episode of Dear Child, How Are You? in Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) in Mid Valley, 1 Utama Shopping Centre, and Gurney Penang
