At one point during the screening on the Syfy channel over 5,000 people a minute posted messages on Twitter.

A new film genre appeared to have been created and fans suggested further hybrid disaster movies such as Tarantulavalanche, Lizzard Blizzard, and Hippoquake.
And while the movie received just two stars on Imdb, several reviewers judged it as what it was intended to be - a camp and gory old school monster B-movie.
