1. Runaway - Sunny Cheah

Hailing from Ipoh, singer-songwriter Sunny Cheah has come a long way from his days singing along to HSM. His latest track, Runaway is a testament to this.

"I wrote this song back in 2014 when I first got my heart smoooosshheeddd! Hope you feel the feels like the way I felt the feels when I was writing it. It's a song I hold dearly in my heart," he says of the track.

Cheah released his first EP, Red Checkered Flannel in 2018, followed by his sophomore project, Blue Checkered Flannel in 2020. The latter explores the intricacies of comforting a lover who is dealing with their own personal tragedy.

2. Pocket Locket - Alaina Castillo

20-year-old singer-songwriter Alaina Castillo may have started out with ASMR videos focused on "lullaby acapella singing, sing you to sleep vibes" but the star is now gearing up to release her debut album, parallel universe part 1!

From the album, is her track Pocket Locket.

Also on the tracklist are the songs: down 4 u, parallel universe, stfu (i got u), indica, make it rain, and tėn cømmåndmėnts.

The Houston-native has been steadily growing her fanbase in Malaysia following her four-track EP the voicenotes/mensajes de voz in 2020.

3. Build a B*tch - Bella Poarch

Editor's note: This song contains strong language.

TikToker Bella Poarch went viral last year, joining TikTok in April 2020 and quickly skyrocketing to fame — in less than eight months, she had more than 40 million followers on the video-sharing platform.

Now, she's joining one of the many TikTok stars that are transitioning into music, with her track, Build a B*tch.

While there has yet to be confirmation of whether or not the track is part of the album, we can't deny that the message of the song is sure to hit home for many, as Poarch sings:

"I'm filled with flaws and attitude
So if you need perfect,
I'm not built for you"

The American-Filipino musical artist is trending on Malaysian Twitter with her debut.

4. Switch It Up - Jay B feat. Sokodomo

Since the band GOT7 announced their departure from JYP, IGot7's have been watching as their idols make a name for themselves outside the group.

Amongst them, is leader Jay B who — since signing with H1GHR MUSIC, the hip-hop and R&B label founded by fellow JYP alumni Jay Park — has released a brand new R&B forward single, Switch It Up, with South Korean rapper sokodomo.

The song has Cha Cha Malone's signature production style, what with Cha Cha Malone having founded H1GHR MUSIC with Jay Park. The duo aim "to bridge the gap" between the US and South Korea with the label, which already houses pH-1, Sik-K, Woogie, HAON, and Big Naughty.

5. 맛 (Hot Sauce) - 엔시티 드림 (NCT DREAM)

NCT Dream is playing with fire with the release of their first full-length album Hot Sauce.

NCT Dream, a sub-unit of the 23-member South Korean boy band NCT, consists of members Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle, and Jisung, and their 10-track album marks the group's first full comeback as a seven-member group since 2018. The music video for the group's titular track sees the members show off their individual, refreshing, charms.

The afrobeat influenced track has since become NCT DREAM's best performing song in streaming charts, achieving an "All-Kill" on Korean streaming site MelOn's Real-Time chart.

It has also claimed the title of SM Entertainment's "most viewed music video within 24 hours".

6. Believers - Alan Walker feat. Conor Maynard

English-Norwegian DJ and record producer Alan Olav Walker is ready to make 2021 this year.

Since releasing Fake A Smile with salem ilese earlier this year, he's back with another interesting collaboration — this time, with English singer, songwriter, actor, and YouTuber Conor Maynard.

Since his last time in Malaysia (circa 2018/2019), the award-winning DJ has been keeping busy — with what? Well, Dan from Fly FM found out from the man himself!

7. Won't Sleep - Tones and I

Australian chart-topping singer-songwriter Tones And I, whose real name is Toni Watson, has released a new song titled, Won't Sleep!

The music video for the track, co-directed by Tones, Nick Kozakis, and Liam Kelly, sees two kids stumbling into a haunted house filled with monsters, with the singer as their leader.

Since her breakout single, Dance Monkey from her debut 2019 EP, The Kids Are Coming, Watson has gone on to release Fly Away, which has amassed more than 174 million streams to date.

8. Good For U - Olivia Rodrigo

From her upcoming debut album, Sour, is the latest single by Olivia Rodrigo, Good 4 U.

The song is a sarcastic jab, addressed to the singers "former partner", who moves on quickly following the end of their relationship. She sings:

"Well, good for you, you look happy and healthy
Not me, if you ever cared to ask Good for you,
You're doin' great out there without me"

Of the album, Rodrigo says: "Something I'm really proud of is that this record talks about emotions that are hard to talk about or aren’t really socially acceptable especially for girls: anger, jealousy, spite, sadness, they’re frowned-upon as b#tchy and moaning and complaining or whatever. But I think they're such valid emotions."

The High School Musical: The Musical: The Series' actress will mark the drop of the single with an appearance and performance of the track on Saturday Night Live on 15 May.

Meanwhile, in anticipation of Sour, which is expected to drop on 21 May, Rogrigo's local fans have been tweeting about her together with Poarch, both of whom are part Filipinos.

9. Electric - Katy Perry

Another notable name is pairing up with the cult classic video game series Pokémon!

Following Post Malone is, none other than, Katy Perry!

The 36-year-old pop star had shared back in January that she would be partnering with Pokémon in the year-long celebration of their 25th anniversary. Electric is Perry's first single released in 2021.

In her statement, Perry said: "Pokémon has been a constant in my life from playing the original video games on my Game Boy, to trading Pokémon TCG cards at lunch, to the adventures of catching Pokémon on the street with Pokémon GO."

The P25 Music collaboration includes the Pokémon 25: The Album, which will be released in fall 2021, and features 14 songs by 11 United Music Group artists, including Perry, J Balvin, and Post Malone.
