Malaysian actor Henry Golding recently visited the set of US-based The Late Late Show, hosted by James Corden, with his movie mum Michelle Yeoh.

Playing on Michelle's character of a controlling mother in 'Crazy Rich Asians', Henry told James that in order for him to appear as a guest on the Late Late Show, James had to gain the approval of Michelle.

James then began his quest to impress Michelle

James first told Michelle that she looked like Henry's younger sister instead of his mother. But from the look of Michelle's face when James went in for a hug, she did not buy it.

Michelle did not seem too pleased with James' hug.

He also gave her a 'gift' – a DVD copy of his movie, Peter Rabbit.

Michelle then coldly threw it into a rubbish bin nearby.

"My Henry's worked too hard to end up here with you," she said.

The talk show host then tried to bond with Michelle through dumpling folding

"It looked so much easier in the movie!" he exclaimed after giving up folding the dumpling.

Michelle then scoffed and told Henry in Mandarin that James looked like a dumpling himself.

"I want to make it clear to you that you're never going to be good enough for our family," Michelle said to James sternly.

"You're not even good enough for your own family," the actress added, to which the audience responded with a gasp.

Michelle's anger at James' two failed attempts was further fuelled after he beat her in a game of Mahjong

"It's not my fault your mom sucks at Mahjong!" James rebutted Henry, who asked if it was necessary for him to beat Michelle in the game.

James eventually resorted to an emotional monologue in a last-ditch effort to win over Michelle

"One day, he's (Henry) going to be on another late-night talk show and I want you to remember this and think of me and everything I sacrificed because if I can't have him as a guest on my show, then I don't want any guest on my show," James dramatically said to Michelle before leaving the room in apparent defeat.
